OK fellows,

I just left e23 board and graduated to E39 this year. But I found that there was a lack of diagram to engine components to help E23 fellows. So I am returning here to write a short note to hopefully help E23 owners.

So here it goes, especially for newcomers.

--------
*** ENGINE COMPONENTS:

1. DME Relay
2. Heater Valve
3. Oil Pressure Sensor
4. AFM (Air Flow Meter)
5. ICV (Idle Control Valve) under the large air intake rubber boot
6. Hydraulic Sensors for Brake System (there are 2 sensors)
7. Relays for Fuel Pump and AC
8. Large Air Intake Rubber Boot
9. Daignostic Connector
10. Temp Sensor and Thermo-time Switch area
(See next picture)
11a (left) is is fuel line to cold start valve
11b (right) is "CCV" Crank Case Ventilation Hose

-------
TEMP SENSOR AND THERMO-TIME SWITCH AREA

Temp sensor. It is well-know that in general, connections go bad rather than the sensors themselves (true for any sensors). There is alot of salt in the winter for Northern people, the salt corroded the connector. So remove the connector to the "TEMP SENSOR FOR MOTRONIC ECU" and give it a good clean with fine sand paper on BOTH the sensor side and the connector side.

Hope this helps fellow E23 owners.
