I have for 20 years wanted a garage with a lift for, laying on concrete gets old and was making me older. The garage is 30 x 30 found plans on internet and had it drawn up for plans. The garage has sixteen foot ceiling on first level with sixteen 4 blub light fixtures flush mounted in ceiling. Garage doors have wall mounted liftmasters so doors go straight up the wall no overhead. When foundation was poured by a friend who works for city laying concrete, ran inground piping for air, water, drains, electric 220, internet, phone, and cable. Got four bids on just putting up shell all were 55,000 to 60,000 $. I just shook my head in shock. Ended up being my own general, got shell put up for 32,000 with my own carpenter crew. Went and ordered lumber from Lowes, all 2x6 lumber, Lowes by mistake delivered all treated lumber, so I didn't say a word to the driver signed the slip and off he went. We got to work assembling the walls on the ground not considering the weight we couldn't lift them into place with five guys had to rent a crane for an extra day cause needed to lift up trusses, what a pain, but it is tornado proof and will never rot ever. Hired three young big strapen boys I know to hang drywall they work on side for cash in @ 5 a.m done @ 2 p.m. Got cabinets from Nortern Tool when they had sale, found slop sink on craigs list, along with a beam vac system, cabinets and sink for the upstairs office which is 16 x 24 allowing six feet for the stairwell. Underneath stairwell closet has a 150 psi compressor with drier, central Beam vac, hot water heater, alarm system, and storage. Propane heated mounted on ceiling on first level, a/c heater combo, refrige with icemaker, 2 50 inch plazma T.V's with surround sound upstairs for office. One T.V downstairs.Did all the finish work myself over the winter so it took sometime but all in all it was worth it and lift has already paid for itself. Will post some more pic's of upstairs and different angles.
