Subject: Windshield wiper arm and new style blades

Well some of you out there have the windshield wiper arm with the U mount for the blade going up on the drivers side and down on the passenger side. this means you have to buy refill blades for your driver
side arm. finding these refills has become next to impossible.

Here is my solution..to not being able to use the RainX style blades on our drivers side windshield wiper arms.

I received a donor arm from a 750 and a 735 from beach911. this was done just in case it didn't work.

What I did was cut the donor 735 arm off as close to the spring section as I could It turned out to be just about 10 inches long
I put this next to the donor drivers side arm and measured where to cut the U off so the drivers side arm will still be the correct length

Once the U was cut off I clamped the two pieces together and had them welded. (One note here make sure you clamp the piece with the U on the bottom because if you don't the end of the original arm with the U cut off will interfere with the installation of the wiper blade if it is on the bottom)
I had mine welded at a body shop with a mig welder. I choose a body shop because they have experience welding thin metal and automotive pieces. My cost $20 USD
I then ground the welds smooth and painted them black
I now can use standard wipers like RainX and Bosch

What a relief it worked .

Again Thanks to beach911 for donating the arms for the experiment
